July 1997 Trends:
After briefly rising above the U.S. average in February, March and April, Wyoming's unemployment 
rate (not seasonally adjusted) is back below it at 4.4 percent in May (see Civilian Labor 
Force and Unemployment).  Wyoming's labor force was slightly smaller in May 1997 than a year earlier (see 
Wyoming Economic Indicators), and total unique UI claimants continues its seasonal 
downward trend, falling 17.0 percent from April to May (see Normalized Continued Claims).  
Nonagricultural employment showed no change (0.0%) over the year (see 
Wyoming Nonagricultural Wage and Salary Employment).  All of these facts suggest that 
our economy continues to stagnate and workers are leaving the state or dropping out of the 
labor force.  --DB
